Ah, feels good to take off the shoes. Even if it was just my tennis shows lol
So we went out to Chuou University today and it was pretty good. We got there and ate first thing.
Which also sucked since I wasn’t hungry at all after eating a pizza. I got a piece of fried chicken and some rice. Still not hungry even now. Then we went up into a room that was arranged very strangly. I mean, it was just in rows… but the projector was facing the right of all the desks. So we just rolled the tables around and sat more normally. Oh, and those tables are some of the most god-awful things to sit at. They’re low, can’t lean on them or they roll away, and there’s a series of bars right at knee level so you can’t even relax. Oh and a big-ass plate in the front to bang your shins on if you try to streach your feet out under it.
So we got started with a few of our own presentations, first was Ben and a guy that was supposed to present with our cell-phone group.. but didn’t turn in anything to add to our slides so we kicked him out. Aaron (the dood), talked for like 3 slides then Ben took over everything else. He took the presentation about technology in US vs Japan and turned it into a 15 minute talk about ‘why the iPhone is God’s gift to man’.
Annoying.
Then another guy did his research project on hybrid technology and it was pretty neat.
So then it was the Japanese student’s turn. They introduced themselves and what they were researching (they were all graduate students). There were only 4 of them plus two teachers, but at least it was more than before.
The first guy’s presentation I… was tuning out most of the way through :\ It was about how software is developed.. or something…
The asst-teacher’s was much better. Mostly because it wasn’t about technical things but social. That I can not only wrap my head around, but actually enjoy. She talked about how Japanese and Americans act online on social networking sites like Facebook (and in Japan, Mixi is their Facebook). How the Japanese crave annonmity far more than we do. They’ll keep almost all details about their real life hidden to all but a select few.
Oh and Edo brought up his soccer team twice this time during their presentations. Old bastard :\
After that we headed out to the book store for shirts, didn’t get one because their logo was too much like UGA
Arg.. I’ve been doing this off and on so much that it’s already 7 XD
I’m gonna go soak in the tub for a bit then head out to the Laundromat and grocery store for dinner. Jeff and a few others went out to get some Kobe beef, which is apparently like the god of steaks. Whatever. So I’ve got the room to myself for a bit. Everyone else is going to go get drunk or something.
