6:13pm
Thank god this day ended the way it did, phew.
So Jeff didn’t wake me up, had to wake up on my own.. but he had the AC set so low that I couldn’t move out of bed until like 8:05… while we were thinking we had to meet at 8:30 today. Thankfully we were wrong so I had time to run and get a doughnut from across the street. Came back and still had time before Amoroso showed up.. 4 minutes late. And his wife a few minutes after that, so he was even more testy when Nicole (the only girl in the group) wasn’t there. We called up and she said she thought we were meeting up at 11 today. Uh… no..
So we were just about through the door when she came in.
We were moving along and then we got held up at the ticket machine because they hadn’t decided HOW to get there. So instead of planning this the night before or even on the train, we stand there and try to figure it out. This after him complaining we’re always the ones wasting time.. Anyways..
So we ride the subway two stops, then get on JR and ride it around to the next area 30mins away. So we then get on a third line and the rapid line (as opposed to the super-rapid and semi-rapid. Seriously) line takes 40 mins to get there. Shit was kinda expensive. 160 + 190 + 480 all for just one way? Blah.
So! We ride and ride and ride before getting there and THEN have to take a bus for another 20 mins to get there. So by this time we’re all transportation’ed out. We get to the university and they show us the room we’ll be presenting in.. they have power plugs on the tables… and internet cable ports. I KNEW I shoulda brought my laptop! >=O
So first up is a presentation by one guy about how they’re working on algorithms to predict browsing habits. Apparently it was a good one, from what the people that have this as their major said. And then… The second professor left. His stomach suddenly exploded on him so he went home. And the first prof had a class to go teach. So.. there were no students there at all for us to talk to :\
We’d planned 3 presentations of our own.. didn’t do a one of them. We went on a campus tour that was only about 20 mins long.. then got back on the bus at 3:30 and came right back.
Looks like it’s a good thing I didn’t bring my laptop after all.. lol
Me and two others just walked home from Ueno the few blocks instead of paying the 160. Small price, yah, but it’s like a 3 minute train ride for two stops :\ Silly.
Tonight I’m FINALLY going to go out to Uguisudani for some ramen… I hope :(
